Breaking news!! Josh Freeman headed to New York!!

After days of negotiation in what has become known as "The Freeman sweepstakes", at approximately 12:45am est ESPN insider Ed werder broke the story that buffalo and new York have agreed upon a deal to send Freeman to the giants. The Gianta would send highly coveted 1st rd pick from the steelers, along with davis garrard and CB Carlos Rogers to the bills in exchange for the young qb. We bring you now to the live press conference with QB Josh Freeman and giants coach cheddah:

Press: "coach, you guys have landed Josh Freeman. It was no secret how badly you wanted him. Yet you sacrificed that highly valuable pick even though David garrard led your team to a 7-1 start. What was the logic behind this move?"

CC: "David did a fantastic job while he was here. He was a solid player for us and there's no doubt the success we've had was due to his ability to make plays when they counted. But Josh is a special talent. That pick was valuable to us, we got a lot of offers for it, all multiple player deals, but Josh is our guy. He fits my system better than any other qb can, and we're confident in his abilities despite his age. When he was on the block I told the front office to do whatever it takes.

Press: "Josh, you've been outspoken in the media that you wanted to play in new York. However the fans here are some of the most relentless. They wanted garrards head and he went 7-1. How do u plan to deal with the pressure?"

JF: "WIn out I guess. Haha. I don't feel the pressure at all. As long as I didnt go to Dallas I was fine. That place is a black hole. But NY was always my first choice. Coach cheddah has a phenomenal system and I think it really puts me in place to excel. The defense here is amazing, reggie is so talented and really comig on in the new system. I can't wait to get on the field and develop a rapport with Taylor, devin, and mike. Plus, I've been DYING to see Lombardi again and you just can't get better pizza anywhere else."

Press: "coach, you had to develop a new offense in week 2 to suit the way garrard aged the qb position. How are you going to fine tune it for Josh?"

CC: "well that's going to take some reps. Thankfully we have a bye week to get a that work in. The system. Was built for Josh, we actually had to fine tune it for David. So I think now we'll be able to ratchet it up a notch."

Press: "you acquired Carlos Rogers from the Vikings so u could move DRC to safety. Now that he's gone, will he be moving back to corner? And who will fill that safety position?"

CC: "losing Carlos was big for us, but getting Josh was bigger. Dominic was most likely headed back to corner anyway. He's shut down every receiver he's seen and we need someone like that opposite vontae."

Someone actually had offered 2 first rounders, but changed their mind at the last minute and pulled it back. I was in the middle of typing "SOLD" when they replied back withdrawing the offer. Of course, he thought Cheddah was offering a high first, and a high second....and that it would take 2 firsts to get the deal done, but I have no idea where he got such faulty information (whistles innocently)

you were trying to drive up your price on Freeman.

I never offered you 2 1st rounders for Freeman alone....I'd be stupid too. I'm rebuilding my team...makes no sense to trade away the most valuable pieces (Picks) right now. I currently have 4 of them now.

The reason 2 picks were included before in one of my offers was that the offer was a HUGE package with several other players alone....

But hey, you got what you wanted...I guess. 2 30+ players and a 1st round pick....Congrats!

I'm sorry Delmas, I didn't realize that I had said that you were the one that offered me 2 first round picks. Thats because it wasn't you. Your offer was a fairly large size package deal, which I wasn't really interested in.

There were about 8 other teams outside of you 3 that made offers, some were pretty small offers, and others were damn nice.

And yes, I was driving up the price of Freeman, without question. When people are in a bidding war, I'd be a fool not to capitalize on it.

and I'm pretty sure you actually said in a PM to me...after I disclosed that I wasnt gonna bid up with these guys. Manning and 2 1sts and hes yours...or whatever.

But, its irrelevant. I wasnt but "mildly" interested in the guy.

I was just going to re-sell him or drive Cheddah bonkers with the guy until he gave me something I wanted.

PS: You could have held out for more. Do Rogers/Garrard really help you? 2 1sts is better than that offer. Cheddah would have paid the farm for the guy...if you single handedly would have drove him up.

Nope, it wasn't Saastar....he stayed out of the process.

I suspect the owner who offered it was trying to trade another player to acquire another first in the process, and then flip those 2 for Freeman. I'm not even sure who it was, as it was all text message lol, I just know its not a # from which I've traded with, or played against in the group yet

I think when I said I'd take Manning and 2 Firsts, I'm pretty sure that was for Freeman & Mendenhall (just not Curry &/or Crofton)

lol...I think there were a lot of offers from people that had planned on reselling to Cheddah.

The high first is definitely going to help me, as I'll likely end up getting the player I want in this upcoming draft....which is all I really wanted. Then I'll have an extra first to fill a need. Garrard is a short term non-permanent player unless he runs the table....But Rogers will actually be the 2nd fastest CB on my team, and I'm severely lacking speed at that position, so for me he's an upgrade at the position.

I had dropped hints to Cheddah that others might be offering more, but he didn't budge on his offer. Once blammers got out of the bidding with your trade, I was worried the market would cool, and had to pull the trigger fast.
